Calendly.

Introduction — Where These Lessons Come From
- Over the last seven years he has spent over 1,000 hours studying the best digital product businesses in the world: from normal people doing their first $500 in sales, all the way up to digital product businesses like his own that have done over $32 million in digital product sales.
- He has worked with over 3,000 students; that is what got him featured in Times Square, New York, and invited to speak at the largest online marketing conference in North America.
Lesson 1 — Market Research
The reason 95% of digital product businesses fail before they ever get a single sale is not the product; it’s that the founder skipped one step: market research. Your offer, your funnel, your content — everything sits on top of this one step: how well do you actually understand who you’re selling to? There are two paths:
Path One — You Already Have an Audience, Even a Small One
- 200 people is “a massive auditorium” — size doesn’t matter.
- Open up your Instagram Stories and put up a simple poll: “What are you struggling with the most right now?” with three or four options that map to different types of people who follow you. An example in the fitness niche: “I want to lose fat · I want to build muscle · I want to fix my diet.”
- Instagram shows you exactly who voted for what. Swipe up and DM every single person who voted: “Hey, I saw you voted on the poll. Quick question: what’s the actual problem behind why you chose that option?”
- This works because they already raised their hand — the DM is not cold; they’re the ones who engaged with you first.
- The goal: 30 to 50 conversations. On top of that, a 15–20-minute call with at least 10 of them, and record the calls — you’re going to need them.
- Position the call as a free consultation: “I’m actually giving away five free consultations to help you achieve XYZ…” then your Calendly link.
Path Two — You Have No Audience, and That’s Fine
- Open up Claude (free), turn on Research mode and web search, and give it this prompt:
- It will pull from real forum posts, real Reddit threads, and real reviews, and come back with the exact language your future customers are using right now.
- Then a second prompt:
- Now you have a starting hypothesis, which you validate the same way Path One does: by talking to actual humans.
Lesson 2 — The Simplest Funnels Make the Most Money
- He says he learned this the hard way: for years he overcomplicated his funnels and acquisition systems, and it barely moved the needle. What actually moved revenue every single time: sharper content.
- The funnel that’s actually winning right now: content → landing page → buy button. Or: content → DM → checkout link inside Instagram.
- It works because your content is already doing 80% of the selling before they ever click on anything: if your content is good and specific, solves a real problem, and shows you know what you’re talking about, then by the time they hit your page they’re already 80% sold — and the page just needs to not screw it up.
- On the flip side: if your content is weak, no funnel on Earth is going to save you. Put 90% of your effort into content.
Lesson 3 — Instagram Is the Printing Machine
To sell a digital product in 2026: not YouTube, not LinkedIn, not Twitter — Instagram. Four reasons that apply to digital products specifically:
- Speed: digital products are impulse-priced — $27 PDFs, $47 guides, $97 mini courses — and don’t need 10 hours of nurturing. Someone watches a 7-second reel, clicks the link, and buys in less than 2 minutes: a complete sales cycle in the time it takes to make a coffee. No other platform does that.
- Volume: Instagram’s algorithm in 2026 pushes new accounts harder than at any point in the platform’s history — a brand new account with zero followers can hit tens of thousands of views in 24 hours if the content is good. Other platforms make you wait months before they show you to anyone.
- The audience: the people who buy digital products live on Instagram — mobile-first scroll culture, and they’re already in a buyer’s mindset because the entire platform is designed to put products and content in front of them.
- The easiest content to make: no studio, no thumbnail designer, no equipment — just your phone and 7-to-15-second videos. And you don’t even need your face if you want to go faceless: he shows an example of a fully AI-generated account whose owner makes over $70,000. Compare that to YouTube (10–30-minute videos, thumbnails, scripts, and B-roll) or a podcast (lining up guests and filming for 90 minutes minimum).
Lesson 4 — Followers Don’t Matter; Useful, Specific Content Does
- This is the biggest change of the last 18 months, and most people are still operating like it’s 2022.
- The old model: two years building an audience → 50,000 followers → launch a course → your first $100,000. It doesn’t work anymore.
- What’s happening now: the algorithm is no longer a social graph; it’s an interest graph. It doesn’t care who follows you — it cares whether your post is interesting to the specific person it’s deciding whether to show it to.
- So you can have 47 followers and still hit 100,000 views. He says he sees this every single week with his top clients.
- And on the flip side: accounts with 200,000 followers posting generic content are getting buried.
Lesson 5 — Guarantees Are Dead; Proof Is the New Promise
- He says he used to stack guarantees himself: big claims and money-back guarantees, and it used to work. Then in 2023 they started losing steam because everyone was using them, and by 2025 they were actively hurting conversions because they sounded too good to be true.
- The standard play for five or six years: aggressive claim + money-back guarantee + paid ads. “Make 100k in your first 30 days or you get your money back” · “Lose 20 pounds or it’s free.”
- And the market has been burned by this repeatedly: this year’s buyer has five to seven different courses and programs that came with complicated, extensive guarantees, and almost none of them were honored the way they were promised. He says he made this same mistake four years ago: refund processes were a nightmare, companies hid behind long clauses in complicated contracts, and the customer got screwed.
- So your audience has formed an association in their head: big guarantee = bad product. And the thinking goes: “If your product was actually that good, you wouldn’t need to promise me to give me my money back.”
The alternative: replace promises with proof. Don’t tell people what is going to happen; show them what has already happened with your previous customers:
- Post screenshots of student wins on your stories.
- Pin a post on your profile that focuses on results.
- Share video testimonials in your reels.
- Have a highlight called “Results” with 50 wins in it.
Lesson 6 — The Messaging Your Content Gives Off Matters More Than the Content Itself
- Every post sends a signal about who you are and what kind of people you attract. And if you don’t control that signal, the wrong people end up following you, and your business never works, no matter how good your offer is.
- Yacht and supercar content, buying bottles at the club, and “day in the life of a millionaire” stuff attracts a specific type of follower: people who just want the lifestyle, not the work. Flexing content attracts people who just want to flex — and they’re the hardest people to sell to.
- But content that breaks down how a business actually works, teaches one specific concept clearly, and shares what you’ve learned from real experience attracts real operators who want to build something — and those are the people who actually buy.
And there are three stages to every relationship someone has with you online:
| Stage | What Happens |
|---|---|
| 1 — They know you | Awareness: your first piece of content, the reel that hit their feed. |
| 2 — They like you | After consuming enough content, they feel they know who you are and identify with you. |
| 3 — They trust you | They’ve seen the proof, watched you be consistent, and believe you can actually help them. |
People only buy at stage three — and you can’t get them there without going through stages one and two.
Lesson 7 — Your Instagram Profile Is Your Sales Page
Every piece of it has a job, and anyone who treats it like a vibe board instead of a conversion asset is leaving most of their revenue on the table:
- Reels = the ad. They reach thousands, if not millions. Their only job is to get a stranger to stop scrolling for 7 seconds and feel, “Wait, who is this person? I’m interested” — not to sell, not to close, just to earn the click to your profile. And with reels, you get attention for free.
- Bio = the headline. One line: who you help, and what outcome you help them get. “I help busy parents lose 20 lbs without giving up carbs” · “I help freelance designers land $5K clients without cold outreach.” Specificity wins.
- Link in bio = the checkout button. One product? Link straight to its sales page — no intermediate page, no “tap here to see options.” Multiple products? A simple link-in-bio page (Stan · Linktree · a page on your own site) with three links max: the product, the free thing, and one other CTA. Do not put 12 links on there — every extra link cuts the conversion of the ones above it.
- Pinned posts = above-the-fold social proof. Three slots most people waste: (1) your best-performing content — proves you’re worth following · (2) a results post (a student win, your own results, or a transformation) that says “This works” · (3) your highest-converting post, the one that directly tells them what to do next.
- Highlights = the FAQ section. One for testimonials, one for what you do, one for your product, and one for behind the scenes.
- Stories = the follow-up, and where the actual selling happens. And most of your sales will come from people who watch your stories, not your reels.
Lesson 8 — Give Away the Information for Free, Then Sell the Implementation
- Most people gate their best stuff, thinking that if they gave it away, nobody would pay. That’s the wrong way to think about it: people don’t pay for the information — they pay for the implementation.
- Information = the what and the why — for example: you should be doing market research before you build your product. That’s free, and anyone can find it on YouTube.
- Implementation = the how and the with-what: the actual templates, the scripts, the step-by-step system, the done-with-you support when you get stuck, and a community of people doing it alongside you. That’s what people pay for.
- So in your content, give away the what completely, without holding back — that’s how you build authority — and keep the templates, swipe files, systems, and support inside your paid offer.
How You Do This on Instagram: The Lead Magnet
- The structure that works this year: you post a reel about a specific problem, and at the end you say: “I made a free PDF guide that walks you through this entire thing step-by-step. Comment ‘guide’ and I’ll send it to you.”
- People comment → you DM them the guide → now you’re in their DMs, having a real conversation, asking questions, understanding where they are → then, naturally, you mention that you have a paid product that solves the next problem. That’s the engine.
- Your options — keep it simple: a PDF guide (the easiest — 5 to 10 pages of a high-quality framework) · a training video (5 to 15 minutes — higher trust because they see you) · or a swipe file of templates, scripts, and prompts your audience can copy and use right away.
- Pick one, make it great, use it for the next 3 months.
Lesson 9 — AI Now Does 90% of the Work That Used to Take Months
He calls it “the one that changed everything in the last 18 months.” The workflow, from idea to product in a single weekend:
| Step | What You Do | Time |
|---|---|---|
| 1 — Research | Open Claude: “I want to build a digital product in this niche. Research the biggest pain points, the language the audience uses, the products that are already selling, and the gaps in the market this year.” | 20 minutes — a research document that would have taken a marketing agency 2 weeks to put together. |
| 2 — Validate | Take the top two or three ideas and search the niche on Instagram: what’s getting views? Are people already posting about this problem? Are they getting engagement? If yes, the demand is real. If no, pick a different angle. | 15 minutes — do not skip it. |
| 3 — Build | Back to Claude: “I want to create a digital PDF guide on this specific topic with this audience. Write me a full outline of six to eight chapters, and then write content for each chapter.” You add your voice, your examples, and your perspective; the structure and the heavy lifting are already done. | — |
| 4 — Package | Drop the content into a Canva PDF template, add a cover, and add your branding. | 20 minutes |
| 5 — Sell | Upload it to a digital product platform: Stan · Gumroad · Wix (has e-commerce now) · allen.store. They handle the checkout, the delivery, and the receipts — you don’t need a website or a developer. | — |
Total time from idea to product: a weekend. And the people who win this year are the ones who move at that new speed.
He also mentions a faster path for anyone who doesn’t have their own product yet: use the same workflow to promote products that already exist and are proven, and keep up to 85% of the sale — no product creation, no customer support, no delivery; he says he covers the full system in a free masterclass, the first link in the description.
Lesson 10 — Pricing
He says people burn weeks on the question: 47, 97, or 197? Here are the tiers:
| Range | What Sells Here |
|---|---|
| $27 – $47 Entry point | “Incredible right now”: a PDF guide, a swipe file, a template pack. Low enough that nobody hesitates, high enough that you’re not undervaluing your work. And if you’re brand new, start here. He cites companies like Masterclass and Skillshare as proof of the principle: a small digital price — monthly or one-time — drives massive volume. |
| $97 – $197 Mid-tier | Your more substantial digital product: a mini course, a 30-day guide, a starter kit with multiple components. This is where most six-figure creators sell, because it’s the perfect intersection: accessible enough for a cold buyer, and high enough to actually build a business with. |
| $297 – $497 | Your flagship digital course: multiple modules, real depth, and a strong outcome promise. This is what most successful course creators settle on for the main offer. |
| $997 – $2,997 | The high-ticket zone: high-ticket courses or short coaching programs. You need a more substantial sales process here — a video sales letter (VSL) or a discovery call. |
| Over $3,000 | Mentorship territory. It usually requires a sales call, and it’s not where you’d start. |
Two strategy points:
- Don’t go from $27 straight to a $5,000 coaching program. Your buyers need to climb the ladder, and each step should feel like the next logical move: $27 PDF → $197 course → $997 coaching program.
- When you’re starting out, charge one time. Subscriptions are harder to convert cold buyers into. Once you have an audience and trust, layer in a monthly community or membership.
Lesson 11 — The Boring Offer Wins
- Most people pick a niche that’s way too broad: “I want to help entrepreneurs make more money” · “I want to help people be more productive” · “I want to teach mindset.” Too broad and very forgettable.
The offers that are winning this year are absurdly specific:
- “How to make friends in your 20s, even when you’ve left college and your social circle just disappeared” — a real offer: specific person, specific moment, specific outcome.
- “How to get ranked in Rocket League from Gold to Diamond in 30 days” — and he says one of his clients made $187,000 in a single month with this offer.
- “How to buy and resell sneakers” — and he says one of his students made over $50,000 a month selling a $3,000 coaching program on it.
- None of these sound impressive at a dinner party — if anything, they sound strange. They’re narrow, specific, and “boring” in the sense that they don’t try to be everything to everyone, and that’s exactly why they work.
- So when that person sees your content, they don’t think “Oh, this might be for me” — they think “This is for me.”
- The test: read your current offer out loud — if you can’t picture one specific person in one specific situation who would say “That’s me right now,” your offer is too broad. Narrow it down.
Lesson 12 — DM Follow-Up Is Where 80% of Your Revenue Actually Closes
- Most people think sales happen on the sales page. They do, but most don’t: the sales page closes maybe 20% of the people who land on it, and the other 80% closes in the DMs, in the follow-up, in the conversation that happens after the initial click.
- DM keyword automation (the entry point): someone comments a specific word on your reel, an automation triggers and DMs them a free resource — that opens the conversation, now you’re in their inbox, and now you can build a relationship.
- Story CTA: every few days, post a story with a soft CTA: “DM me ‘launch’ if you want my Instagram launch checklist.” People who watch your stories are already warm and trust you a little — and a soft CTA in your stories converts way better than the same CTA in a feed post.
- Manual DM outreach: go through your most engaged followers — the people who like your posts and view your stories every day — then send them a real, non-templated message and ask a real question. It doesn’t scale forever, but in the first 6 to 12 months, this is where most of your revenue comes from.
- Email: once someone opts in for your lead magnet, you need a simple three-to-five-email sequence, each one delivering value and positioning your paid offer at the end — this is the engine that closes the sales the DMs didn’t.
Every business is different: some niches work better in DMs, some in email, and some require a sales call for the higher-ticket stuff — you have to test and find out what fits. And if you’re not following up, you’re leaving most of your revenue on the table.
Lesson 13 — Why Most Creators Die at $5,000 a Month
He says this is the most important one for anyone who is already making money but has hit a ceiling. And for anyone stuck at 5 to 10 grand a month:
The recurring pattern: someone launches a digital product, starts posting on Instagram, gets traction, hits 3 grand, then 5 grand a month, and feels like they’re about to break through — and then they plateau; sometimes for a year, sometimes forever. Three reasons:
| Reason | Explanation | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| 1 — They scale content, not the offer | More reels, more content, double the effort on the front end, but the offer is still a $27 PDF. So even if they double their views, they go from 5 grand to 10 grand a month if everything goes right. More content doesn’t fix a low-ticket-only business. | Add a higher-ticket offer above your current products: you have a $27 PDF → build a $297 course. You have a $297 course → build a $1,997 program. Give people somewhere to go next. |
| 2 — They have no back end | One product, and that’s it. Someone buys a $27 PDF and then the relationship ends: no higher-ticket course, no coaching offer, no community. So they have to acquire a new customer for every single dollar they want to add — and acquisition is the most expensive part, and they never get the compounding effect of selling more to people who already trust them. | Fix the ascension: front-end lead magnet → mid-ticket product → high-ticket offer. Three tiers minimum. |
| 3 — They don’t compound | They don’t build an email list, they don’t relaunch old products to existing customers, and they have no recurring offer that generates predictable monthly revenue. Every month starts from zero, and whatever they sold last month doesn’t carry over. | Build the email list from day one, even if it’s small — it is the most valuable asset in your business, and the only one you actually own. The day Instagram changes the algorithm, your email list is the only thing that keeps your business alive. |
